Internship: Megan Younker

Year in School & Major:
Senior in Psychology
Internship/Job Organization::
Dole Human Development Center

What did you gain from your internship?

When I started teaching 4 and 5 year-old children, I was skeptical that my experience would help me achieve my goal of becoming a middle or high school counselor. I quickly realized in order to understand adolescents, I'd need to learn about human development in all ages.

This internship has beyond prepared me for building relationships with students and partnering with parents. With this experience I have confidence in pursuing my goal of becoming a school counselor. Although school counseling doesn't require standing in front of the classroom teaching, it involves and requires many useful skills I've learned at the Development Center.
